My grandparents lived in the Florida Keys which meant we went to visit every year. One of my favorite parts of the trip would be going to The Dolphin Research Center in Grassy Key. I was obsessed with dolphins and this was THE perfect place to go if you wanted an up close experience. Every year we visited and every year I grew all the more enamored: I had to know how to be a dolphin trainer!

I would later learn that these people I wanted to be, weren't actually dolphin trainers... they were marine biologists... and they were paid "accordingly" which was: poverty dollars per year. My teenage brain fully grasped that there was no way I was going to afford digs and taking a job like this without hitting the lottery first... so...

Obviously I would not go on to become a "dolphin trainer" or marine biologist but my love for the playful marine mammals has never waned. There's something so fascinating about these animals and the energy they exude. "Bay Watch" is my ode to these beautiful creatures AND the people that scan the waves in hopes of spotting one.
